Today we’re celebrating the exciting and highly anticipated Practical Completion of Maison Bâtard, @lucasrestaurants latest dining landmark, set to redefine the Bourke Hill Precinct with its French flair.

This four-level hospitality marvel required a delicate balance of heritage preservation, detailed restoration and archaeological work, with careful coordination and strategy applied at every phase of design and construction.

The project team navigated the complexities of authority approvals under strict heritage controls to accommodate the complex infrastructure required to service the two restaurant levels, a rooftop terrace and the subterranean supper club. The result is the flagship of the Lucas Restaurant group.

What began as a single building evolved into a grand vision with the acquisition of two additional historic properties, transforming the venue into a remarkable space that now spans three heritage buildings. As Chris Lucas aptly remarked, “Maison Bâtard burgeoned into a once-in-a-career restaurant.”

A project of this calibre required a sophisticated builder, and @kapitolgroup delivered with an exceptional level of craftsmanship.

We acknowledge the hard work of our AJ team members, @katherinestrain, @mkehart and @olivia_christie , who ensured every milestone in this project was met with precision and care.

The journey to bring @wesleyplacemelb Urban Park to life was a meaningful one for Armitage Jones. As the Project Manager for this space, our mission was clear: protect and preserve the majestic, centuries-old olive tree – one of Australia’s oldest live specimens, planted in 1875.

Armitage Jones is proud to have played a key role in respecting and nurturing this unique space throughout the entire development process. Every step was taken with care to ensure the Urban Park remained a sanctuary for nature and people alike. Covering 500 square metres, it’s one of just four urban green spaces in Melbourne’s CBD, offering a rare and precious retreat in the city. It’s wonderful to see this vision become a space cherished by many.

Last week, @sonyalmiller and @olivia_christie attended Property Council of Australia’s 2024 Property Congress in beautiful Townsville.

This year’s congress featured a packed program, with hundreds of property professionals gathering to learn, inspire, exchange ideas and gain insights into the evolving landscape of our industry.

What do you get when you mix the AJ team, some golf clubs, and the year’s craziest weather?
An unforgettable day of teamwork, laughs, and perseverance! 🏌🏼‍♂️⛳️

Last Friday, we braved lightning, heavy rain, and wind to enjoy a fantastic day out on the golf course. Even with the wild weather, we managed to squeeze in some solid swings – big winners were James Pane and Lilian Millar, who walked away triumphant!

Massive thanks to Lachlan Rath and the AJ Social Committee for organising a day that brought us together, rain and all. It was one for the books, proving that no matter the weather, the AJ team will always find a way to have fun together.

As we approach the exciting Practical Completion of Batard by @lucasrestaurants Restaurants, the AJ team recently visited the site for a ‘lessons learned’ walk-through.

We are currently managing five hospitality projects at various stages of design and delivery. The site walk provided valuable insights into the technical and authority challenges that our team have navigated over the past 18 months. Allowing our team to reflect on the journey is invaluable – particularly the Batard project that blends heritage and hospitality to create this much-anticipated venue within the iconic Bourke Hill Precinct.

It won’t be long before Batard infuses the ‘Paris end’ of Bourke Street with French flair, and we’re excited for Melburnians to experience its unique charm. Stay tuned!
